The rectangular ring with a base diameter of 78.0 mm (Part No. B7-02-042) serves as a piston ring in the BMW 600 2-carburetor sports engine to seal the combustion chamber and ensure compression. During an engine overhaul or restoration, worn rings should always be replaced with new ones of the correct base dimension, and the end play should be carefully checked. This is the only way to maintain the sport engine’s original power delivery and smooth operation.
