The rubber-metal compound shim plate on the right (Part No. B6-07-1930) is used in the BMW 600 to provide elastic mounting for body or attached components and reduces vibrations and noise. As part of a restoration, hardened or cracked rubber components should be replaced with new shims and ideally renewed in pairs with the left side. This preserves the bearing geometry, body stability, and the vehicle’s original ride comfort.
