The shift rod B6-05-0965 connects the shift lever to the rest of the BMW 600’s shift mechanism at the upper end of the pivot piece and transmits the shift movements to the transmission. During a restoration, the used rod—delivered as removed—should be inspected for wear, corrosion, and straightness, and refurbished or replaced as necessary to ensure smooth gear selection.
