The sleeve (Part No. B6-05-050) guides and centers the spline shaft and the associated steering joints in the BMW 600 and protects the spline from wear. During restoration, the correct length variant should be selected, and the sleeve should be inspected for wear marks and corrosion to prevent play in the steering linkage and preserve the original steering characteristics.
