The B6-04-061 shaft seal seals the wheel hub of the BMW 600 against escaping grease and ingress of dirt, thereby protecting the wheel bearings on the front and rear axles. As part of an axle or brake restoration, hardened or leaky seals should be consistently replaced, and the sealing surfaces on the hub and housing should be inspected. This extends the service life of the bearings and improves the operational safety of the classic car.
