The 1st and 2nd gear shift fork (Part No. B6-03-070) actuates the synchronizer sleeve for the lower gears in the BMW 600 transmission and ensures that 1st and 2nd gears engage and hold properly. As part of a restoration, a worn-out or bent shift fork should be replaced to permanently prevent shifting difficulties and gears from popping out.
