The approximately 253 mm long pushrod B6-01-0975 transmits the reciprocating motion from the tappet to the rocker arm in the BMW 600 engine and is thus a central component of the valve train. During restoration, used, untested pushrods must be inspected for straightness, wear at the ends, and corrosion, and if any abnormalities are found, they should be replaced with flawless ones to stabilize valve clearance and engine operation.
