Der Stößel B6-01-0961 überträgt im BMW-600-Motor die Bewegung der Nockenwelle auf die Stößelstange und damit auf die Ventile, weshalb Maßhaltigkeit und saubere Laufflächen für eine korrekte Ventilsteuerung entscheidend sind. Bei der Restauration sollten gebrauchte Stößel immer auf Einlaufspuren, Kantenbildung und den korrekten Durchmesser (21,96 oder 22,00 mm) geprüft und nur in Kombination mit passenden Führungen und Stößelstangen verbaut werden.
