The reverse gear shaft 2-042 (Part No. 2-99995) houses the reverse gear idler gear in the BMW Isetta transmission, thereby enabling the reversal of the direction of rotation. During a transmission overhaul, it is important to inspect this used shaft for worn bearing seats, corrosion, and dimensional accuracy, and to use it only after appropriate reconditioning or as a master part for remanufacturing.
