The 4th gear on the output shaft, with part number 2-072, provides the gear ratio for the highest gear in the BMW Isetta transmission and transmits torque to the output side. During a transmission overhaul, the tooth flanks, fit, and any pitting marks should be inspected, and worn gears should be systematically replaced to prevent noise and shifting problems in the restored vehicle.
