The 4th-gear gear on the secondary shaft (Part No. 2-044) transmits torque in the highest gear of the BMW Isetta and defines the gear ratio between the engine and the output shaft. For a professional transmission overhaul as part of a restoration, gear flanks, fits, and concentricity should be carefully inspected, and worn gears should be consistently replaced.
