The VDO speedometer (Part No. 7-10704) is used in the BMW Isetta to mechanically display the vehicle speed via a speedometer cable driven by the transmission. When preparing the instrument for restoration, the pointer mechanism, bearings, damping, and housing gasket should be overhauled, as used instruments often suffer from resin buildup, wear, and moisture damage.
