The cast brake drum with part number 4-123 forms the friction surface for the brake shoes on the rear axle of the BMW Isetta and is therefore largely responsible for braking performance and smooth operation. During restoration, the drum diameter, concentricity, and surface condition should be inspected, and if there are grooves, corrosion, or the drum exceeds the wear limit, it should be replaced with an intact drum to ensure safe and consistent braking performance.
