This used sliding dog gear for 3rd and 4th gears (part number 2-99974, also 2-050) is used in the BMW Isetta transmission to connect the respective gear wheels to the shaft via a positive-lock engagement. During a transmission overhaul, it can serve as a template for reproductions or as a spare part with limited usability; however, it should be carefully evaluated for possible wear and breakage on the claws before being used permanently in a restored vehicle.
